Road Construction Update

Road Construction

Starting Thursday, July 18th (next week) 17th street removal and replacement will begin east of the car wash drive to allow car wash traffic to exit their property. Then once this is complete the plan is to reverse the removal and replacement to the west side of the bridge. That way the car wash can then operate eastward from their property. Therefore with all the information that is given, there will not any access from telephone until the flip takes place. Then Janeway will be affected on the other side. Timeline is about a month to complete.

Phone numbers to call for extended blockages of railroad crossings: 1-800-507-9227 (BNSF Railroad). Emergency number to call BNSF, 1-800-832-5452. To issue a complaint with Oklahoma Corporation Commission call (405) 521-3407.

S.W. 34th St. Closure

SW 34th Street will be closed beginning Monday, May 13 2019, between Telephone Road and the east drive of the Arbor Gardens Park, until further notice. Arbor Gardens Park remains open, with access available from the west drive on SW 34th Street from Santa Fe Avenue. This road closure is necessary due to the SW 34th Street Road Widening Project, which will widen SW 34th Street from just west of Telephone Road to Santa Fe Avenue from 2-lanes to 4-lanes with a 10’ walking trail. For further information, please contact the City Manager’s Office at 793-5200.

I-35 lanes shifted near S. 19th St. in Moore through summer 2019

I-35 lanes are currently shifted between S. 19th St. (mm 116) and Indian Hills Rd. (mm 114) as part of the construction of the new S.W. 34th St. bridge over I-35 that continues through summer 2019. The speed limit is also reduced in the work zone.

34th Street Overpass Update

Construction crews continue to make progress on the 34th Street overpass. Pier supports for the overpass are being constructed at the present time. Also, pavement crews are busy pouring concrete for the overpass as well. The weather has slowed the project somewhat but the City still hopes to have the overpass completed in late 2019.

S.W. 10th & Janeway Closure

Effective immediately the section of S.W. 10th & Janeway Avenue that goes through Little River Park will be closed as construction continues in Little River Park. The closure is expected to last approximately 6 months. Thank you for your patience.

Cass Avenue will be closed between Shields Blvd. and Hillcrest for new road construction. This closure is expected to last several weeks.

Sunnylane from NE 12th Street to SE 34th Street is scheduled for overlay and repairs beginning August 5, 2019 and lasting approximately 1 month, weather permitting. This project will include a mill and overlay along with base repairs as needed. Drivers should expect delays and intermittent closures. For more information, please contact the City Manager’s Office at 793-5200.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is proposing to replace the bridge over an unnamed creek on SH-37 (4th St. in Moore), located approximately 0.2 miles west of Telephone Rd. The City of Moore’s Little River Park is located on the south side of SH-37 (4th St.) at the bridge crossing and right-of-way within the park is required in order to reconstruct the bridge. Due to the proposed transportation use of property located within Little River Park, Section 4(f) regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act of 1966 apply to the project. Section 4(f) affords protection to publicly-owned recreation areas (resources) including city, state, and national parks, wildlife refuges and management areas and historic sites.

ODOT has coordinated with the City of Moore to avoid and minimize impacts of this project to the Little River Park. This will be accomplished by constructing a reinforced concrete box (RCB) instead of a span structure which will minimize the amount of new right of way needed from the park. The proposed RCB will be constructed half at a time allowing the road to remain open to traffic during construction. ODOT will replace the existing sidewalks with 5 ft to 6 ft wide sidewalks in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on both sides of SH-37 (4th St.) and access to Little River Park will be maintained throughout the construction of the project. With these efforts, ODOT is proposing to obtain approximately 0.2 acre of the 52 acre park, which constitutes less than 0.1 percent of the park

Based on the avoidance and minimization of impacts to the Little River Park as described above, ODOT, in coordination with FHWA, are proposing a de minimis impact finding with regard to Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act (1966). ODOT welcomes your comments on the effects of this project on the projected activities, features, and attributes of Little River Park (the Section 4(f) resource).
