Regular Elections called for Mayor and Council

The Moore City Charter establishes a council-manager form of government, which vests policy authority in a volunteer city council, and administrative authority for day-to-day operations in an appointed, professional city manager. The Moore City Council consists of a mayor and six council members who are elected for four-year terms.  Moore is divided into three wards – evenly representing our citizens.  The ward map can be located on the city website, or by clicking here. The compensation for a council member is $1200 per year and the Mayor receives $3600 per year.

Citizens wishing to seek the Office of Mayor or Council member for the non-partisan election can file at the Cleveland County Election Board on January 9th, 10th, and 11th. The deadline to withdraw from the election is January 13th, 2012.  The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 6th and a General Election will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd if needed.

The newly elected Mayor and Council members will be sworn in on Monday, April 16th at the regular city council meeting.

Citizens seeking information about the offices available can contact the Deputy City Clerk by calling 405.793.5020. The Cleveland County Election Board can be contacted by calling 405.366.0210.
