Moore Police Department
Organization & Personnel

   

The Moore Police Department currently has sixty-three commissioned police officers. The officers are assigned primarily to three distinct divisions-Patrol, Operations, and Special Operations.

Patrol Division

The Patrol Division responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • patrol functions such as responding to calls for service,
  • securing crime scenes,
  • properly investigating and taking appropriate action regarding traffic activity, criminal activity, and unusual circumstances;
  • apprehension of offenders;
  • recovery of stolen property or contraband;
  • preparation of reports and presentation of court testimony.

In addition to the basic patrol functions, the patrol division is responsible for the bicycle patrol, Emergency Response Team, canine functions, motorcycles, and other special units as may be assigned.

Operations Division

The Operations Division embodies detectives, records, training, personnel services, and fiscal management.

  1. The detective bureau responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • proper investigation of criminal activity,
    • collection and preservation of crime scene evidence,
    • apprehension of offenders,
    • recovery of stolen property,
    • preparation of reports,
    • presentation of evidence to the prosecutor's office, and
    • presentation of court testimony.
  2. In addition to the basic investigation functions, the detective bureau is also responsible for the maintenance and storage of lost, found, stolen, or confiscated property; classification, maintenance and storage of fingerprint documents; analyzing evidence; compilation of crime statistics.
  3. The records bureau responsibilities include but are not limited to: coding, filing, retrieval, and general maintenance of certain agency reports and documents; rendering assistance to the public; and receiving cash payments for file searches, impounded vehicle releases and other administrative fees.
  4. The training sergeant's responsibilities include but are not limited to: gathering, evaluating, and disseminating in-service and specialized training materials, processing training requests, maintenance of personnel training records; preparation of training reports to include training received, training deficiencies.
  5. The fiscal management section responsibilities include but are not limited to: internal auditing of budget cost centers, preparation of purchase orders and payment authorization forms; maintenance of petty cash funds; preparation of budget reports and receipt of accounts payable.

Special Operations Division

The Special Operations section responsibilities include the investigation of illegal drug and narcotic activities and agency covert operations.
