June 22, 2012 - Moore’s City Manager, Steve Eddy, has appointed Gary Bird as the Moore Fire Chief, effective June 30, 2012. Chief Bird fills the position that was vacated by Chief Charles Stephens who will retire on June 29th after 32 years of service with the City of Moore.
Chief Bird began his career with the Moore Fire Department in August of 1985 as a recruit firefighter. Working his way through the ranks he held the position of Training Major before assuming the duties of Assistant Chief Training Officer in January of 2001. He was appointed as Deputy Fire Chief in February 2003, a position he held until he was appointed Fire Chief.
City Manager Steve Eddy states, “I am proud to appoint Chief Bird to the position. Over the past several years, I have had the privilege to work with Gary, and I recognize his outstanding service to the City of Moore. I am confident in appointing this exceptional individual to serve as Fire Chief.”
The Moore Fire Department is dedicated to providing prompt, quality services for the community.
