Fire Prevention is a function of the Moore Fire Department. The goal of fire prevention is to educate the public to take precautions to prevent fires, and be educated about surviving them. It is a proactive method of reducing emergencies and the damage caused by them.

Fireworks are Illegal in Moore

With Independence Day approaching this week, Moore city officials want to remind residents that it is illegal to purchase, possess, manufacture or use fireworks in the Moore city limits without a permit.

“It’s a matter of safety for property owners,”  Fire Chief Gary Bird said, “Another issue associated with fireworks, is people are often hurt in accidents.  Safety is a must with fireworks.”

There are places in Oklahoma where discharging fireworks is lawful, but not in Moore, Bird said.

Holiday Safety Tips

The winter months present many opportunities for families and friends to enjoy each other’s company, as well as having a plentiful feast of homemade recipes. The brisk winter chill forces us, sometimes unwillingly, to seek shelter inside the home where the chill is taken out of the air by a warm fire or heater. The holidays also present the opportunity to decorate the inside and outside of our homes in festive cheer.
