Central Park Plans Revealed and Groundbreaking
On December 11, 2013 the design team from Oklahoma based TAP Architecture unveiled the designs for the new Moore Recreation Center and Aquatic Facility that will be located at a new park located along Broadway Ave in the heart of Moore. Ground was broken at a public ceremony on May 9, 2014.
The facility will cover approximately 107,000 square feet. The Recreation Center will be 52,311sf, Recreation Center/Aquatics Support building is 7,415sf, and the Aquatics Facility is 47,229sf. We estimate that these projects will be completed in the Fall of 2015 or early 2016.
Also included in the park will be an amphitheater, farmers market/multipurpose pavilions, walking trail, universal playground and open spaces for families to gather.
The park is 51 acres in size in central Moore. The family of Dr. Curtis Berry sold the land in 2013 to the City of Moore at a steep discount to the City. In recognizing that donation the official name of the park is Dr. Curtis Berry- Central Park.
