Tornado Recovery

Due to the widespread devastation from the May 20, 2013 tornado, the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded $26.3 million in disaster recovery aid to the City of Moore to help the community recover from the storm. The grant provided through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is designed to support long-term disaster recovery efforts in areas with the greatest extent of ‘unmet need.’ CDBG-Disaster Recover (CDBG-DR) grants are intended to address housing, business and infrastructure needs beyond those met by other forms of public and private assistance.

A series of Notices published in the Federal Register regulates the use of the CDBG-DR funds. City Staff is working with HUD officials to finalize an “Action Plan” that will be the framework through which Recovery Activities will be carried out.

The Action plan is expected to be available for Public Comment on February 18, 2014.
