5 For The Future

5 for the Future is our slogan for five important projects approved by the voters in 2006 in an $18 million bond issue referendum

S.W. 19th & Telephone Road

Project Description: Widen SW 19th Street to 6 lanes from I-35 Service Road to Telephone Road. Project includes reconstruction the 19th and Telephone intersection to add turn lanes, enhance the drainage in the area, and include sidewalks.

Project Status: Construction is well under way. We ask that you have patience with the heavy traffic and possible delays in the area.  

NE 12th, from Eastern to Bryant

Project Description: Reconstruct NE 12th Street from Eastern Avenue to Bryant Avenue. Project includes widening NE 12th Street at the west Buck Thomas Park Drive and Bryant intersection, install signal lights at the west Buck Thomas Park Drive, drainage improvements, and sidewalks. A 10’ multi-use trail will be provided from Bryant Avenue to Winding Creek School.

Project Status: Design 100% complete. Bid opening scheduled for late June 2010.  

NW 5th Street, from Broadway to Markwell

Project Description: Reconstruct NW 5th Street from Broadway Avenue to Markwell Street. Project includes stormsewer improvements and improvements to the NW 5th Street/Service Road/Telephone Road intersection.

Project Status:
Roadway Design underway.

Federal Aid Projects

Federal Aid Projects are projects funded in part with federal funds. These projects are competitively selected from among other qualifying projects in the Central Oklahoma Region, and are administered through the Oklahoma Department of Transportation

Eastern Avenue, from NE 27th Street to N City Limits

Project Description: Widen Eastern Avenue to 4 lanes from NE 27th Street to N. City Limits, including sidewalks on the east side. This project is being constructed in conjunction with the City of Oklahoma City to improve Eastern Avenue from I-240 to Moore City Limits.

Project Status: Currently in the design phase. Environmental Clearance has been submitted to ODOT. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-late 2010.

Santa Fe Avenue, from SW 19th Street to SW 4th Street

Project Description: Widen Santa Fe Avenue to 4 lanes from SW 19th Street to SW 4th Street, including drainage improvements and sidewalks. This project is the last remaining segment of two-lane roadway along Santa Fe from SW 34th Street in Moore through Oklahoma City.

Project Status: Construction is underway.

SE 4th Street/Tower Drive Signal Light

Project Description: Installation of a 4-way signal light at the intersection of SE 4th Street and Tower Drive. Signal light will include pedestrian controls, count-down timer, and video detection of bicycles on Tower Drive.

Project Status: Complete. 

SW 19th Street Bridge

Project Description: Construct a 5th lane on the existing bridge structure, allowing for left-hand turn vehicle stacking. The City of Moore is also constructing a right-turn lane on the southbound W I-35 Service Road using city funds. This project will link with the SW 19th Street Project approved by the voters in the “5 for the Future” Bond Issue Projects.

Project Status: Construction complete! Lanes may narrow intermittently for re-striping. 

Projected Completion Date: Complete

SE 34th Street Bridge Replacement, approx. ¼ mile west of Sunnylane

Project Description: Replace the existing one-lane bridge on SE 34th Street with a new 2-lane bridge, including drainage improvements.

Project Status: Construction complete! Lanes may narrow intermittently for re-striping.

Projected Completion Date: Complete
