Moore Friends Book Sale!

The block buster annual book sale held by the Friends of the Moore Public Library is now on the horizon at the Moore Public Library, 225 South Howard, in Moore. The book sale is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, September 26 and 27. A special “Member’s Preview Sale” takes place on Thursday September 25 from 6:30-8:00 p.m., giving members the first opportunity to buy coveted items in the sale. Friends’ memberships will be available on preview night, at the following fees: $5.00 per individual, $10.00 per family, and $1.00 for students.

The popular “Books-by-the-Sack” sale takes place on Sunday, September 28 from 1:00-3:00 p.m., where remaining items are sold by the sack-full at the rock bottom price of $5.00 per sack. The Friends will provide sacks for purchasers.

The glass cases in the lobby of the library will be filled with select items intended for the sale and will be on display for the entire month of September. This display is meant to give the public a preview of books, DVD’s, book series and sets, collections, resource materials, movies, and music that will be available. Prices for sale items will be as follows: Adult hardback books, $2.00; paperbacks, $1.00; DVD’s and Audio Books, $2.00; VHS movies, $1.00; Children’s hardback books, 50 cents; Children’s paperback books, 25 cents, and magazines, 10 cents.

“This year will be the largest book sale ever in the history of the Friend’s organization. The over-all quality of the items is high; just excellent condition. There is a large quantity of items in every category,” says Linda Marcom, President of the Friends of the Moore Public Library.

This year’s sale will also feature selected items available for purchase through the silent auction method. Customers can make silent bids on special items marked for the auction, and the sale of the item will go to the highest bidder. The highest bidding customer’s names will be announced on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

During the book sale, a hand-made quilt, created and donated by Jeanne Bugg, will be awarded through a ticket style drawing. Drawing tickets for the quilt will be available for purchase at $1.00 each, or six tickets for $5.00. One ticket for the quilt will also be given for every new Friend’s membership that is purchased. The quilt award drawing will be held after the silent auction conclusion on Saturday.

Proceeds from the book sale assist the Friends in their efforts to sponsor library events, programs, and projects providing much needed materials, supplies, and funding for the Moore Public Library.
